Keeping Nutrition Simple

All too often we are surrounded by complex diet plans, too many ‘don’ts”, and conflicting

information, but eating a healthier diet doesn’t have to be complicated. A simple approach is

essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Here are a few tips to help you make your health a priority

and to keep nutrition simple.

Whole Foods: Instead of getting caught up in the latest fads or superfoods, we can concentrate on

consuming a well-rounded diet consisting of whole, unprocessed foods. These include fruits,

vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats. By emphasizing these essential food groups, we can ensure we're getting a wide range of nutrients without the need for complicated calculations or strict rules.

Meal Planning & Prep: Simplify your meal planning by looking for recipes that require minimal

ingredients and preparation time. Stick to a few go-to recipes that you enjoy and are easy to make.

Consider batch cooking and meal prepping on the weekends to save time and effort during the

week. This way, you can ensure that you have healthy options on-hand plus more time for self-care

and a yoga class!

Mindful Eating: Instead of obsessing over calorie counting and strict portion sizes, focus on mindful

eating and living healthfully. Use your plate as a guide, filling half your plate with non-starchy

vegetables, a quarter with whole grains or starchy foods, and one quarter with lean protein. Eat

slowly, chew thoroughly, pay attention to your body’s hunger and fullness cues, and aim to eat

until you feel satisfied, not overly full.

Simplicity allows nutrition to become a lifestyle rather than a short-term goal. By adopting

sustainable habits, we can integrate healthy eating into our daily lives with flexibility and enjoyment

in our food choices.
